When I’ve exhausted my New York City resources looking for unusual and sublime items for for my clients, I rush to Grand Central and hop a train to the antiques centers in Stamford CT. They’re a treasure trove with something like six warehouse buildings packed with a wide variety of antiques dealers – something for every taste and budget!
One of my very favorites is the Antique and Artisan Gallery which feels more like a super chic boutique than an antiques center. They always have the most interesting things. I fell in love with a stack of coral and gold shell plates as well as a white palm leaf and mirror planter (I’m planning where best to install this as I write!).
At Hiden Galleries I found the most perfect small scale Dupre Lafon chair for our very own Scott McBee’s maisonette as well as an Albert Hadley style tufted slipper chair.
Harbor View has a tremendous collection as well – I’m wild about an unusual coromandel lacquer table with giraffe.
It’s always rather refreshing to have a little jaunt out of town for a delightful afternoon of antiquing.
Photographed by Scott McBee at the super chic Antique and Artisans Gallery, I am sporting a Tom Ford era Gucci chartreuse suede safari jacket, Tom Ford gray and charcoal window pane plaid cotton shirt and gray cotton cashmere corduroy pants, RL Purple Label grey cashmere fair isle V-neck sweater, grey pearl cuff links by Seaman Schepps, vintage Rolex, Creed Bois du Portugal fragrance, and a touch of Tom Ford Bronzing Gel for that sun kissed glow.
Very nice selections!
Thank You Darling Dean
