When I find myself walking along Madison Avenue, I often make a point to check out the fabulous Karl Kemp gallery. Recently, I was particularly taken with one of their fine arrangements. I am a huge fan of Louis XVI furniture – its beautiful lines have been copied and reinterpreted in modernist designs since the 30’s, and so I was thrilled to see this lovely black lacquer Louis XVI inspired 1940’s Belgian desk by De Coene Feres. On the desk is another one of my favorites – a Carol Stupell rock crystal lamp with a kidney shaped base and shade – I have to have one! Hanging above the desk is a handsome mirror in white lacquer on wood with copper, bronze, and chrome trim by Alain Delon for Maison Jansen.
By happy coincidence, my outfit coordinates quite well with the whole Kemp arrangement! I am wearing a Gucci black corduroy jacket, over a red cashmere micro ribbed turtle neck sweater by Gucci, an Ivory cashmere cardigan by Dirty English, black skinny jeans by Diesel, and black leather sturdy soled English inspired lace up shoes by Gucci.
