A quick break from our Spain posts to remind you that the Frick’s Summer Soireé will be soon upon us—Tuesday, July 12, 2011. It’s certainly the highlight of New York City’s summer season, and a not-to-be-missed event!

Along with the magnificent 70th Street Garden designed by my favorite landscape architect Russell Page, guests will enjoy the dazzling interior Garden Court, created in 1935 by John Russell Pope. Guests will also have access to the permanent collection galleries (which feature masterpieces by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Fragonard, Holbein, Houdon, Goya, Gainsborough, Velázquez, Renoir, and others, as well as the museum’s seasonal exhibitions, “In a New Light: Bellini’s St. Francis in the Desert” and “Turkish Taste at the Court of Marie-Antoinette.” Cocktails will be accompanied by hors d’oeuvres by Creative Edge, and cool jazz will be provided by a quartet called The Flail.

Secure your Summer Soireé tickets straight away. Oh, and did we mention photographer Bill Cunningham will be there to document all the glitz and glam? So do sort out your most stylish outfit—I can’t wait to show you mine!! I’m hoping to see many of our WIJW friends there.

Proceeds will support the full range of programs at The Frick Collection, including educational and curatorial initiatives and Library activities and an EPIC evening is guaranteed for all that attend.

I’m photographed here in the interior Garden Court by photographer Lars Stephan. I’m sporting a pale pink silk suit and purple silk glen plaid pocket square by Tom Ford, Turnbull and Asser purple cotton shirt with contrast white collar and cuffs, Seaman Schepps cuff links in shell with coral beads, Gucci python belt, Tom Ford ivory suede loafers, straw hat with black grosgrain ribbon trim from my friend India Hicks’ shop The Sugar Mill and my fragrance is Creed Imperial Millesime.

Ibiza and Hotel Hacienda Na Xamena

Ibiza has long been a destination for an exotic mix of people. Hippies, artists, euro-elite, new-age gurus and everything in between ensure a tolerant and accepting environment.

To accommodate this diverse population, Ibiza comes in different flavors, both wildly in-your-face public and serenely private. We opted for the latter.

At the end of a winding pine tree lined drive, set within a lush and unspoiled garden paradise, lies the Hotel Hacienda Na Xamena.

It’s a five star hotel with a self proclaimed mission to provide guests with “…sumptuous experiences and magical moments….” WIJW is happy to report that Hacienda’s friendly staff and exquisite grounds facilitated many such moments! In fact we were quite blissed out during our entire stay. We can wholeheartedly recommend dinner at the hotel restaurant, El Sueño de Estrellas as well. Perched at the edge of one of the hotel’s pools it’s the perfect place to enjoy a romantic meal while savoring a bottle of Spanish rose.

Pictured at the entrance to the hotel, I’m sporting a white cotton voile safari shirt by Gucci, linen and hemp shorts by Our Legacy, purple alligator belt with silver buckle by Ralph Lauren, Etro orange suede tasseled loafers, sun glasses by Gucci and my fragrance is Creed Orange Spice

Madrid Me Encanta

Breakfast at the Villa Magna Hotel.

Breakfast at the Villa Magna Hotel.

Our last day in Madrid before heading to Ibiza had us wanting to see as much as we could without feeling rushed, and so we sorted out our day over a relaxing breakfast on one of the terrific terraces of the Villa Magna Hotel.

At the Museo Naval.

Our first stop was the Museo Naval, which was the perfect place for Mr. McBee to find a bit of inspiration for his upcoming portrait of the Spanish Royal yacht “Giralda.”

Next on our list was the the mansion of the Marquis of Cerralbo—it provides a perfectly preserved glimpse of the life of a 19th/20th century Madrileño aristocrat—essentially the Frick of Madrid. It was designed as both home and showcase to display the art and success of the Cerralbos. Needless to say, this is a must see!

James Andrew and Juan Moline

After a stroll around the super chic “Barrio Salamanca” we popped into restaurant Oter for some “arroz con mariscos,” a Valencia style seafood rice flavored with saffron. We also managed to visit both the Museo Lazaro Galdiano as well as the Museo Arqueologico before meeting up with more fantastic friends and fans for drinks hosted by my dear friend, the gorgeous Juan Moline—what an absolutely lovely experience to be greeted with such warmth and hospitality!

On the way to meet Moline we were stopped on the street by Ze Cabral of The Lisbon Tailor. He is essentially the “Sartorialist” of Portugal and we were quite honored to be photographed for his brilliant blog!

Then we were off to meet my lovely friend Pepa Charlton for drinks at her stunning home before attending the most divine dinner party hosted by Marta Galatas. Do have a look at her lovely painted furniture. Galatas brought together the most fascinating and wonderful group of friends to celebrate WIJW in her rather splendid flat decorated with the help of legendary interior designer Duarte Pinto Coelho.

This was certainly the most spectacular send off we’ve had to date, and all set in this truly beautiful city. We’ll most definitely be returning for more and to reconnect with the wonderful people we’ve met along the way.

I’m wearing a Tom Ford “Spencer” sport jacket in rose silk linen basket weave, Etro silk chiffon paisley shirt, Charvet yellow silk retro print pocket square, Gucci python belt with silver buckle and sunglasses, Uniglo white cotton slim cargo style pants, Etro orange suede tasseled loafers and my fragrance is Creed Royal Water.
