Linen and Louboutin

There is something so fresh and cool about a linen ensemble – both figuratively and literally – and that can be a big plus in the summer heat! I’ve found myself quite inspired by an image I have of the Duke of Windsor wearing espadrilles and his characteristic riot of pattern and color for a stroll in the South of France. In my ongoing efforts to maintain some degree of sartorial splendor – even on more casual days – I’ve acquired a lovely pair of Louboutin sandal/espadrilles, which lend a dressed down/dressed up kind of casual chic to any of my warm weather ensembles.

For my linen and Louboutin look I’m wearing a Tom Ford era white linen jacket and turquoise, purple, black and white linen plaid shirt, Tom Ford black linen sateen pants, vintage Pucci pocket square, Ralph Lauren purple alligator belt with sterling buckle, Louboutin sandal/espadrilles, Tom Ford “Marco” sunglasses, vintage Rolex watch, and my fragrance is Tom Ford Neroli Portofino.

The Greek House

The Greek House, The Story of a Painter's Love Affair with the Island of Sifnos by Christian Brechneff with Tim Lovejoy

I’ve just finished reading the most delightful book, The Greek House: The Story of a Painter’s Love Affair with the Island of Sifnos by the esteemed artist Christian Brechneff. As the title suggests, it’s a wonderful narrative about the painter and the Island of Sifnos in Greece — a journey that begins with Brechneff’s first visit to Sifnos as a young man, and the profound connection he made with the island that kept him coming back for thirty years. Sifnos itself became a spectacular metaphor for Brechneff’s blossoming sexuality and the raw beauty of the place became a wellspring of creative inspiration, providing Brechneff with just what he needed to develop as a man and as a painter.

All fell into place quite readilly for Brechneff, allowing him to purchase a house on the island that he cherished for many years. I’m more than a bit envious of Brechneff’s summer escape…I often wish I had such an unusual island retreat!

A Blissfully Beautiful Beach Day

This past week has been wildly busy. Back home in the city, Scott McBee and I were already missing the sun and sand of Palm Beach so we made a mad dash to the nearest beach! And as expected, it did wonders to lift our spirits and touch up those nice tan lines we’ve been cultivating. It’s amazing what a little sun and fun away from the city can do.

A bottle of rosé chilling in McBee’s ice box put the finishing touch on this blissfully beautiful day.

Dressed for a holiday in St Tropez, I’m sporting a Michael Bastian white linen guayabera style shirt, Tom Ford pink seersucker swim shorts and “Marco” sun glasses, Louboutin Espadrille sandals, Sugar Mill Harbor Island straw hat, and loads of sunscreen of course!
