James Andrew in the midst of the Starn brother's work entitled Bambú: You Can't, You Don't, and You Won't Stop.
I adore the Cantor roof garden at the Metropolitan Museum, and a private reception with sweeping views of Central Park never fails to excite me!
Twin brothers Mike and Doug Starn’s Big Bambú: You Can’t, You Don’t, and You Won’t Stop is currently gracing the roof garden – the massive semi-primitive structure has me thinking Swiss Family Robinson – or possibly a giant’s game of Pick Up Sticks! Part architecture, part sculpture, and part performance work, Big Bambú blurs the lines – it’s easy to become entranced by this continually evolving piece and it warrants many return visits as it is transformed and built upon throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall.
Starn Brothers - Big Bambú: You Can't, You Don't, and You Won't Stop
Dressed for this wonderful celebration, I’m wearing a beige wool and silk jacket by Gucci, navy end on end cotton with French cuffs and contrast white collar shirt by Tom Ford, vintage moonstone cuff links from Ralph Lauren as well as cotton voile paisley pocket square in pale pinks and blues, Gucci python belt with silver double horse head buckle, pale pink cotton jean cut pant Uniglo, Tom Ford saddle leather loafers, vintage Cartier tank watch from Raj Tolaram, Lanvin sunglasses and my fragrance is Creed Windsor.
James Andrew and the Elkins steel chair at Pofiles.
The legendary landscape architect Russel Page saw the garden as an extension of the home into the outdoors. Understanding the complex relationship between interior and exterior space is of paramount importance in any successful design, and with this in mind, whether I’m helping a client to decorate and furnish a small terrace or an extensive garden, I treat outside spaces with as much consideration as I do their interior counterparts.
The Elkins steel chair.
This super chic Frances Elkins style steel chair I recently discovered at the Profiles showroom is just the sort of element one might use to create the indoor/outdoor continuity Russel Page espoused. What’s more, you can have the chair finished in any Benjamin Moore color you might fancy to add the most wonderfully whimsical statement to any fine garden sitting or dining area. I myself can’t wait to use these chairs in the decoration of my next “exterior room!”
I’m wearing a red leather biker jacket, floral print western shirt and python belt all by Gucci, jeans by G- Star, brown suede and leather tasseled loafers and sunglasses both by Tom Ford, brown suede and leather satchel by Gucci, and my fragrance is Creed Bois de Cedrat.
James Andrew - Tom Ford shoes.
Am I obsessed? – well yes, ok, I’m obsessed. Reminiscent of the quality of the hand made and made to measure shoes of the legendary John Lobb, my very favorite Tom Ford is producing THE most deliciously sexy versions of some of the old school classics – I’ve pictured here an exceptional grouping from my own personal stable – they’re just raring to take me on an ultra stylish romp, and with a selection like this, I’m more than happy to go just about anywhere they want to take me!
A great outfit starts with a great pair of shoes, and Tom Ford is hands down my favorite resource when only the best will do.
