I recently had the opportunity to meet with the brilliant muralist Anne Harris in her New York studio. I’m pictured here in front of one of her monumental pieces, a commission in progress soon to be placed in a fine dining room. Harris’ deeply poetic works draw inspiration from old masters like Tiepolo, realized afresh through an innovative use of scale and a highly refined sense of color. In Harris’ words, “What I try to create is a timeless room that has its own narrative which transports its guest to another time and place.” We at WIJW can say confidently that Ms. Harris continues to accomplish her mission with great aplomb. I’ve been looking forward to collaborating with Anne in the near future to re-create the “Monet” inspired murals Yves Saint Laurent commissioned for his country house – I also love the look of tapestry upholstered walls like the ones at the superlative Chateau de Groussay – it should be an easy thing to find a good room for just such a work.
In consort with Harris’ beautiful mural, I’m wearing a royal blue cotton sateen jacket by Gucci, hot pink cotton shirt with contrast white collar and french cuffs by Turnbull and Asser, (I love these new fitted shirts!), Seaman Schepps silver pearl and pale blue sapphire cufflinks, Etro silk pocket square, Hermes “blue jeans” blue leather belt, white skinny jeans by Diesel, navy blue suede loafers by Gucci, and white leather bag also by Gucci.
