And as all things must, our unforgettable week in Tulum has come to a close.

As you might imagine, one does feel more than a bit melancholy leaving such a beautiful place, but we’re feeling invigorated, and so with clear heads and a bright new outlook, we’re optimistically diving headlong into a NYC spring!

Big thanks go out to the friends that encouraged us to make this heavenly place our holiday destination (did I mention we’re already planning our return?).

I’m pictured here, poised for a last breakfast at Casa Jaguar, which serves fantastic food in a lush tropical jungle garden setting. I’m wearing a Cuban Guaybera shirt in white linen by Michael Bastian, white cotton shorts by Mario Matteo, Tom Ford “Cyrille” sunglasses and brown suede tasseled loafers, rock crystal pendant from Las Dahlias hippie Market in Ibiza, vintage “parabuntal” straw hat, Vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch and my fragrance is Coqui Coqui’s – Floplum.

Yes, it just so happens that I’m listening to the classic tune from Guns and Roses as I write this. However, our title above doesn’t have much to do with the urban sort of jungle Mr. Rose refers to, but rather to the actual jungle—to be more precise, we’re referring to the “jungle side,” as it is called, of the main road that divides Tulum. Here, one finds the majority of the restaurants and shops. It’s a lush contrast to the minimal scape of sand and sea (where most of the hotels are, just across the road), and oh how these wonderfully leafy jungle surrounds make for the most splendid setting in which to dine alfresco!

Off to explore one of the many fine restaurants in Tulum, I’m sporting a Tom Ford brown cotton safari shirt, hot pink cotton voile scarf and brown leather tasseled loafers, Gucci python belt, silk and hemp shorts by Our Legacy, vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch, vintage “parabuntal’ straw hat and my fragrance is Coqui Coqui’s “Floplum,” which is based on the heady frangipani flower (simply beyond perfect for this exotic locale).

Tulum Tranquility

While there are a host of activities available in Tulum (kite boarding, yoga, spas, shopping, etc.), if you’re anything like us, you might prefer the super laid-back approach.

A typical day in paradise: Morning would find us seaside on the terrace sipping cappuccinos, then on to breakfast, sun and swimming. Come noon, we’d head to the Coqui Coqui restaurant for some of the most delicious ceviche, shrimp tacos, and other Mexican inspired cuisine. Afterwards, more sun, strolling along the beach, relaxing, and swimming right up ’till sunset. A pre-dinner bottle of Mexican Tempranillo wine on the terrace would smooth the way for a soak in our tub for two back at the room, (Coqui Coqui provides some rather superb bath products!), before venturing out to one of Tulum’s many fine restaurants. One spot that stands out in particular is Hartwood. Located across the street from Coqui Coqui (on the jungle side), their menu is an innovative take on Mexican style cuisine, and produced from the the best of the best local ingredients.

Sated, we’d head back to Coqui Coqui to enjoy a bit of reading before slipping into one of those deep and restorative slumbers one craves and yet so rarely gets back in the big apple.

Needless to say, the luxurious simplicity and leisurely pace at Coqui Coqui is entirely destressing; the absolutely perfect antidote to our winter-in-the-city malaise.

I’m captured here in front of one of the gorgeous Coqui Coqui Mayanesque walls, admiring the sea before dinner. I’m sporting a Gucci white cotton safari jacket, Tom Ford brown and pale pink cotton floral shirt, pale pink silk pants and brown leather sandles, Gucci python belt and aviator glasses, Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch and my fragrance is Lorenzo Villoresi Iperborea.
