Zaha Hadid 1000 Museum Penthouse James Andrew Design

While on a recent a Florida jaunt, I was struck by the great multitude of marvelous developments and building projects happening in Miami. There are something like 150 apartment buildings being built, along with museums, parks, and marinas—it is really is becoming a quite tremendous tropical city, and no doubt I’ll be helping many with the decoration of their new homes!

I was rather taken by Zaha Hadid’s magnificent masterpiece, 1000 Museum. It’s really building-as-sculpture, standing prominently on the Miami skyline with distinctly futuristic fabulousness. This exceptionally elegant residential tower offers a world class environment for a lucky few who are able to secure one of these exclusive museum quality residences.

As I have mentioned, I do love to design in Florida, and with all the potential opportunity in Miami I immediately began to fantasize about working with an absolute dream client in a Penthouse duplex. It would obviously be a client with a very high level of sophistication and a great deal of respect for Hadid’s architectural vision. I’ve taken the opportunity here to really flesh out the possibilities for just such a client. I’ve gathered a scintillating collection of futurist furniture from different eras (this is a James Andrew Interior Design best of the best!). I’ve had the incredibly talented NYC artist, Scott McBee render my vision of a 1000 Museum penthouse “great room.” I think it illustrates how well these sellect pieces relate to Hadid’s own vision for the future.

As is my trademark, I felt it important to mix in a few antiques as well—in this case, 2 pairs of the most gorgeous grotto chairs referencing the sea. Other elements point to the sky—all embodied in this mansion in the sky.

I created 2 seating areas that revolve around a pair of Royere curved sofas and centered on this grand and glorious space a monumental 1960’s Venini chandelier. Perfection!

Needless to say, if you happen to be one of the lucky few to secure a foothold at 1000 Museum, do give me a ring if you like what you see!

    Oh James!
Bang Bang Bang for impact there!
That ‘nuage’ table also looked fairly spectacular in a pic I’ve seen of Henri Samuel’s flat in Paris (1970’s)… And I’ve seen a fairly ‘ooh!’ version of that Royere sofa with two matching armchairs at a gallery on rue de Lille a few weeks ago…if your clients would fancy it- in canary yellow teddy ‘pelouche’!

    Dearest James:

I love your penthouse design creation! Very modern, chic, with a touch of retro / old world character. It’s been a few years since I was last in Miami however; after reading your blog post 1000 Museum is certainly THE place to call home!

  3. James!
This is fantastic news! Do you realize that it’s quite possible that the developer may wish to have you create a designer model for 1000 Museum?
I was just in a beautiful 3 million dollar model today, here in Naples- which my friend Jay Jerauld is completing.
It’s very creative and forward thinking of you to put this out there.
    Good luck !

  4. James,

This is brilliant -you are so talented -and this design for a potential clients of 1000 Museum does justice to Hadid’s design -witty, full throttle-glam and so insider – you are so in-the-know on what are truly THE collectors pieces of 21st century design -Royere, Venini, Guy de Rougement and Duquette. The dash of Venetian grotto chairs in silver gilt is scintillating and references the high tropical style. Brilliant mix capturing the mood of the place, of the possibilities of our time.
    Love it.

  5. How divine!

    Brilliant! I’ll take it!~

You have designed the most elegant and brilliant place in Miami!

    Good luck!

  6. James Andrew says:

    My Dear Danny,

Yes Exactly – the first time I spotted these beauties was in the home of Henri Samuel- he had the most incredible eye and a marvelous mix of things!

    Cheers and Many Thanks

  7. James Andrew says:

    My Dear Wendy,

    Thank You!

Wouldn’t it be marvelous to have one of these residences or to decorate a few!

My post is already the 2nd one that comes up on google when one googles- Zaha Hadid 1000 Museum Penthouse.

I am hoping that it leads to discovery of my talents.

    Much love

  8. James Andrew says:

    Darling Dean,

Well wouldnt that be sublime or a developer who is doing something else may see and want to upmarket what they are doing- so who knows – so many possibilities!

    Love and Lots of Light

  9. James Andrew says:

    My Darling Philip,

Let’s hope that many more share your enthusiasm for what I have created here- bringing the most elegant and super sophisticated mix to this tropical splendour.

  10. James Andrew says:

    My Darling Penny,

Have you been to the Surf Club in Miami – perhaps before your time but it was a legendary place – perhaps the Lyford of Miami at one time.

I will have to find my people there in Miami- they must exist- hopefully my concepts will stand out and attract the right audience.

    Much Love
