Over the years, we’ve worked with some truly brilliant photographers, and we’ve collaborated together to produce some pretty epic images, if I do say so myself! One of my favorites is the above by the incomparable Lars Stephan for a WIJW piece entitled Romantically Rococo — a post created in conjunction with the Frick to promote the museum as the perfect Valentine’s destination. As things turned out, the photograph was extremely popular, and led to an appearance and interview in Italy’s foremost newspaper, Corriere della Sera. The issue also featured the likes of Vogue’s magnificent editor at large, Hamish Bowles among a select group of other notable aesthetes! Needless to say, I was quite thrilled and honored by the tremendous accolade!

Thanks to the Frick, WIJW is finding the Boucher room a perfect setting to gather a few of Cupid’s pointed arrows. I’m reclining in a Tom Ford shocking pink silk dressing gown from the Tom Ford boutique at 845 Madison Avenue, white cotton voile and lace tuxedo shirt, black and white polka dot silk bow tie, tuxedo pants and black patent leather opera pumps all by Gucci vintage Cartier gold fountain pen and platinum and diamond cuff links and shirt studs from my dear friend private jeweler Raj Tolaram.

    A moat gorgeous room!

  2. Regina says:

Valmont reincarnate…that color is really evocative of the 18thC splendor befitting those boiseries Elsie de Wolfe originally installed upstairs as the dressing room/boudoir for Mrs. Frick…POETIC, let’s hope a duel in the snow isn’t needed.

  3. brilliant….poetic……gorgeous…….and my very favorite color….”shocking pink

Schiaperelli ! Elsa Schiaperelli ! The Queen of color! She invented “shocking pink’! I HAVE FOLLOWED her from the time I was around 6!

that color! It completely transfixed me…….and I have followed “Schiap” ever since! i had a show for my friend Rebecca Collins in Pasadena years ago…..and the darling and beautiful sister of Marisa Berenson…..Berry Berenson….came to my house….and saw the book…..on the table in front of her……

She was thrilled to see the book about her grandmother at my house; I was sick to miss meeting her!

She died on 9/11 on her way to see her son’s movie. She was on the plane from Boston…..doesn’t matter. She was on one of those planes.

That was the day that changed our world. I said so that day.

And I am not patting myself on the back. It was the day my heart broke.

The worst part…..is that it continues….and is getting worse. I didn’t expect that!

I have no answer. I just have hope.

  4. La Comtesse Lola says:

Yes, you epitomize Romantically Rococo, and you look adorable…actually you look about 17! Love you and happy, happy belated Valentine’s Day to you and Scott! xoxo

  5. James Andrew says:

    My Dear Karena,

The scattered papers are words to a song – which I actually did in calligraphy!

I wanted to create the illusion of a mad man in love.

    Thanks and All Best

  6. James Andrew says:

    My Darling Regina,

Thank You for your most delicious descriptives!

This certainly was one of my most favorite photos – quite a photo drama – where all aspects came together- the collaborative collective genius at work- with the most perfect back drops , ensemble and art direction.

  7. James Andrew says:

    My Darling Penelope Bianchi,

Isnt “shocking pink” the most sublime – David Hicks used a color by David Oliver in London called – lipstick pink which would be so divine as a drawing room colour.

What an incredible and very sad story – amazing how many peoples lives were affected both directly and indirectly.

We can never lose hope – I believe that as our collective consciousness evolves and more people surround the world with love and light we can heal the planet!

    Much Love

  8. James Andrew says:

    Darling La Comtesse Lola,

You are so delicious – 17 – I adore you even more – will bring this image to the surgeon when the time comes as a reference- or I could just shave and hack off 20 years.

“Romantically Rococo” is rather a brilliant descriptive- so happy you enjoyed this little flash back.

Mr McBee en route to me as we speak- martini shaker at the ready!

    Much Love
