Saturday Surprise

James Andrew on board the Oceania ship 'Marina'

I’d been invited by the super chic Lee Jofa showroom to attend a luncheon on the new 65,000-ton, 1,258-passenger Oceania ship “Marina.” I thought the event would be the perfect surprise for my favorite painter and storyboarding artist, Scott McBee. As many of you know, McBee has made a name for himself in large scale ocean liners and private yacht portraiture.

Needless to say, when we pulled up to the “Marina” on Pier 90, he couldn’t have been happier. An elegant champagne reception and scrumptious caviar and Lobster Thermidor meal on board had us imagining the Halcyon Days of yore, and longing for that golden era when travel was just as much about the journey as it was about the destination!

Dressed in nautical inspired attire, I’m touring the decks on a most glorious day. I’m wearing a Tom Ford era Gucci navy velvet jacket, blue and white horizontal striped shirt, and navy suede loafers, Diesel jeans, red alligator belt with sterling buckle by Ralph Lauren, vintage red, white, and blue silk pocket square and my fragrance is Creed Erolfa.

Marc, wouldn’t a show in Paris at the Naval museum be perfect?

There is an exhibition now on the SS France- which we hope to attend.

Let us know if you have any ideas or connections for a show for Scott’s fine works.

    Cheers

    Hi James,

Looking sharp. Just been to NYC myself and saw those wonderful folk in the Creed Boutique. Erolfa is good but I’m curious that you think one could get away with it so early in the season?

    Your friend

    Paul.

  10. James Andrew says:

    Hello Paul,

Yes perhaps wearing Erolfa now was a bit of a stretch, however my Ocean Liner adventure had me conjuring up seaside fantasies and was the most perfect compliment to my nautical inspired attire.

    Cheers

James, Erolfa is one of my favourites for the reasons you mention! Speaking of the Ss France exhibition in Paris, we are going in late August ( I cannot wait, because as you know the France is one of my holy grails, I am in the process of conducting an interior tour of the liner on my blog) with a couple of days in Paris and then a week in St. Petersburg. Enjoy if you get to it and I would be intrigued to see how Scott is inspired. Regards

    Hi James,

Good points re Erolfa ! it does smell good and good on you for throwing caution to the wind and going for it in this season. Have you ever taken Creed up on the option of having your own individual scent created ?

  13. James Andrew says:

    Hello David,

So happy you enjoyed the post!

Do keep us posted with your tour of the interiors of the SS France.

Scott and I are planning to go to Paris in either May or September- this exhibition is a must see.

    Cheers
