Prepping for Spring

For Spring - James Andrew

For Spring – James Andrew

Spring weather has nearly sprung despite the fact that persistently chilly days here in New York City make new warmer climes seem a very long way off!

But we’ll simply have to trust that the world is spinning in the right direction, and therefore some hard thought regarding the upcoming sartorial season is overdue! In fact, I’ve actually been thinking about Spring/Summer for several months, and with trips planned for Lyford and an upcoming project in Palm Beach, I’m ready to actually start prepping for spring.

As per my usual modus operandi, my process starts with a good look at my existing spring/summer wardrobe—examining where a few voids might be, so that I can think about filling out a delicious new narrative. A new look doesn’t mean one discards everything one has to start anew; sometimes the simplest article can transform pieces one might already own; case and point, I think this new rather terrific Tom Ford silk paisley bow tie in shades of purple, periwinkle, and blue, really pops up my Gucci dove gray and white stiped cotton suit—throw in a Turnbull and Asser purple gingham check cotton shirt and a Tom Ford purple mini glen plaid cotton pocket square…and bam, over-the-top fabulousness.

For the upcoming season, I’ll also be adding orange, shades of pale mango, and tangerine as well as gray mixed with whites, and pastels in lavender, pink, and mauve. What will you be wearing? Whatever it is, I hope you’re starting to prep for Spring—it’ll be here before you know it!
