HAUTE BOHEMIANS

We’re back from Tangier and have been attacking a stack of tremendous tomes. One particular standout is photographer Miguel Flores-Vianna’s sumptuous Haute Bohemians (with a forward by Amy Astley).

In an era of manufactured and commercialized style, it is refreshing to see such a collection of distinctive homes. Here (from the introduction) Flores-Vianna approaches home as a visual narrative, the “geography of a life,” and reverently extols these houses as nothing less than poetry.

Absolutely divine!

Flores-Vianna notes a common thread characterizing his seemingly disparate subjects: curiosity, acceptance, and wealth. “Curiosity for a wider world and the pleasure that new discoveries bring. Acceptance of the differences that distinguish cultures and enrich us all. All the subjects in the book, all these haute bohemians, in the end inhabit a world of their own making that, regardless of actual monetary value, is true wealth. For this honesty, nobility, all these haute bohemians are, to my eyes, heroes as well.”

This is certainly a #musthave #mustread, and would make a glorious gift during this upcoming holiday season. Inspiration to live an extraordinary life! Do snap up your copy of Haute Bohemians today.

  1. Wonderful book! My philosophy: decorating is “autobiography” Everything has a story and meaning. Everything. Precludes going to Restoration Hardware and furnishing the place!!!

    My Darling Penelope Bianchi,

Isnt it the best- and yes – “autobiography” or as Albert Hadley would say- “scrab book” of ones life.

The Restoration Hardware school of decorating is the death of Interior Design.

Luckily we are part of a group who want to preserve and elevate decoration to an art form – and not settle for some dull as dish water soul less version.

    Much Love
