James Andrew - Formal Friday - brought to you by M.de Phocas
As mentioned in our previous post, my super chic young friends, Alexis Zambrano and Jesus Torres of M.de Phocas, have started the most marvelous tradition they call “Formal Fridays.”
I absolutely love the concept!
A playful antidote to the rather disastrous casual Friday dress code, it’s the perfect opportunity to don one’s very finest and perhaps hit a fabulous restaurant or lounge. You’ll be sure to turn some heads!

Love this idea. Let’s hope it catches on!
Jeans, begone! James, you are my personal Beau Brummel. Love it.
3 words: To die for!!!
Long live Formal Fridays. You’re definately an ambassador.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
Thanks James đŸ™‚
Thank You ALL!
I had a feeling this concept would be well received!
Cheers

Great post James! Love the way the old roller downplays the dressy look here. As they say “clothes make the man”.

Glad you’re joining in James! We’ve been celebrating Formal Fridays with our readers for several years now: http://www.fineanddandyshopblog.com/search/label/formal%20friday.

Such an elegant look, with your usual spark of creativity. That jacket is one of the most beautiful pieces of clothing I’ve ever seen.
Thanks for being a continuing source of inspiration and ingenuity.
You are looking FIERCE James!
I hate to burst a bubble here, bur Matt Fox and Enrique Crame of FineandDandyshop.com have been doing Formal Friday for about two years now. It’s still a good idea!
Hey there Ray,
There are no egos here- so no bubbles to burst.
I don’t care where the concept started- I am just thrilled to hear that more and more people are welcoming these ideas!
Cheers

Tom Ford, eat your heart out, handsome man. Hope life is wonderful and NYC is defrosting and zinging with spring. Kiss to the Bee Man, too. x
James, you are helping me take courage in dressing up! I absolutely love wearing a tuxedo (where can I get those Ford shirts?) and bow tie. I haven’t gone as far as wearing a tux to an interview yet (though I have in the past) this time around, but do have an interview Monday with a company requiring formal dress Monday-Thursday and casual on Friday. I cannot in good conscience wear casual on Friday. I gotta be dressed up and as formal as possible right down to the cummerbund if need be. What do you think?
Hey there William,
So happy to hear these posts have been helpful!
I purchased the Tom Ford shirts at the Tom Ford boutique on Madison Avenue here in NYC and bow tie was Tom Ford era Gucci.
I tend to agree if one is going to dress for a formal affair – go all the way!
Cheers
