James Andrew at the Chinese Porcelain

As an interior designer I’m always on the prowl for the most gorgeous things for my clients, and among the many superb galleries in New York City the Chinese Porcelain Company is always one of my first stops.

The ever so sophisticated Pierre Durand, owner of the Chinese Porcelain Company, has the most exquisite eye – he simply gets everything just right (and as many of you may know, Durand has been a long-time enthusiast of Scott Houston McBee’s painted work, and has held several exhibitions for him there). You’ll always find a masterful mix of unique one-of-a-kind treasures at the Chinese Porcelain Company, both antique and modern – and everything lives rather stylishly together. My own design approach includes a similarly elegant and eclectic juxtaposition of things that really help to create interest and excitement.

I’m particularly wild about the silk velvet leopard canapé (pictured above). It would work well in so many scenarios – and the stunning 1966 Kenzo Okada mixed paper collage on canvas hanging above it is absolute perfection!

Basking amidst the beauty of so many marvelous things, I’m photographed by the brilliant Boris Glamocanin. I’m wearing a Tom Ford brown and ivory glen plaid suit, dusty pink micro check cotton shirt, pale pink and brown plaid tie, brown leather tasseled loafers, Charvet pink silk pocket square, vintage Rolex, Seaman Schepps shell and coral cuff links, Creed Windsor fragrance, and a touch of Tom Ford Bronzing Gel to extend my recent DR glow!
