House Beautiful Instant Room

I am beyond thrilled to be featured in the November 2011 issue of House Beautiful. Look for their super chic segment entitled “Instant Room.”

For the IR project, designers are given free reign to create. For me it was mostly a fabric story, but none the less an opportunity to produce a pared down representation of my aesthetic. I chose to celebrate an aspect of decoration that I feel has been a bit neglected, i.e. the use of gorgeous prints like a fabulous chintz from my friend at Christopher Hyland. I’ve selected “Mary’s Garden.” as it’s called, to set the tone and palette for my room. Its fresh colors create the perfect backdrop for interesting objects, contemporary art, exquisite antiques, fabric walls, curtains and sheers.

BTW, House Beautiful has embraced a particularly neat technological feature called digimarc. It works with an amazing smart phone app to enhance the magazine experience. By holding one’s phone over selected pages, one can activate videos. In this latest issue you’ll find a fab video of yours truly sharing some thoughts on style!

Pick up your issue of HB today and on page 54 you’ll see the rest of the story.

Rose Cottage can be Yours!

As you may have gathered by now, we certainly enjoyed our time at Rose Cottage.

Our hosts, Guy Clark and Harrison Morgan, are some of the most stylish people I know. They define living well.

As it happens they are launching a new project, and Rose Cottage, having been given their devoted expertise, is now on the market. Truly the most perfect escape and would provide one with a splendid setting to entertain friends and family, adopt loads of animals, and perhaps even take up gardening! This is an amazing opportunity to acquire a fine country home.

Dependencies of the estate include a charming two bedroom guest cottage & second cottage/office/artist studio with three car garage, both lovingly created in 1991 of antique timbers & hardware from local barns & homes in the area. Rose Cottage – Guest House

Rose Cottage was the most perfect launching point for our bucolic weekend in the country. McBee and I were given our own guest house, just a little ways off of the main house—ravishingly rustic, it’s constructed from reclaimed barn wood and timbers with antique hardware, and has a glorious double height sitting area with fireplace, two bedrooms, and a screened in porch to boot. I love guest houses as they do afford one that touch of privacy one appreciates on slightly extended visits. Needless to say we are deeply grateful to our super chic friends, Guy Clark and Harrison Morgan, for a most gorgeous getaway.
