James Andrew – vintage Vespa

While driving a golf cart through Lyford and West Palm Beach is pretty fun, I recently took a spin on one of my client’s gorgeous vintage Vespas, and I’m hooked! I often work with clients to scout out perfect properties around the world, and I pride myself with having a comprehensive sense of what my clients prefer, what their needs are, and whether a property has potential to fill those needs — generally this saves a great deal of time and effort for all involved!

A couple of clients who are currently living in “Welly World” (an insider’s term for the Palm Beach Polo Club and the general surrounds 20 minutes west of Palm Beach) are looking to switch homes, so I spent a bit of time recently sifting through possibilities. Most of Palm Beach Polo was developed in the 70s and 80s and now many of these homes are in need of a facelift, but there really is a lot one can do with some judicious landscaping and a few well selected edits to transform many of these places into rather ravishing homes! Taking a spin around on a vintage Vespa was not only great fun but a highly effective way to get the lay of the land, so to speak, and I did happen to find a few places that look quite promising! We’ll see where this all leads. đŸ˜‰

Dressed for my Vespa adventure, I’m sporting a Tom Ford Indigo and Ivory silk glen plaid jacket, royal cotton pants, pale blue micro herringbone cotton shirt with French cuffs, ocean blue and white dot print pocket square, pearl and pale blue sapphire cuff links, woven blue leather Adriano Meneghetti belt, Ralph Lauren royal blue suede espadrilles, vintage Rolex, Tom Ford Costa Azzura fragrance and a touch of Tom Ford bronzing gel for that sun kissed glow.

My old friend Nicky Cardone, visits Bermuda 4 x a year, and loves to spin around the island on a Vespa !

We hear them often buzzing around in Naples too!

  2. La Comtesse Lola says:

You are so handsome, and I love you in that blue! And a belated but none the less hearfelt hooray on how much I enjoy seeing ALL of your gorgeous face again! xoxo Much love to you and Scott! Cheers and Happy Happy New Year to you both…may all your dreams continue to come true!

  3. HI there! How smart of you and your clients to “get” that remodeling is better than “starting over”!!

Palm Desert (et al) is a perfect example of the opposite! Houses built on golf courses became dated….instead of remodeling them……..(with possibly ravishing results…..) they just kept building more golf courses and houses…..each one less carefully built than the last. Now “La Quinta is stretching to “Indio”; with one tacky golf course “gated community” after another. It is heartbreaking….and eventually; the huge aquifer under that desert will run dry. It will become a dust bowl. So smart to redo houses and make them ravishing!! Brilliiant!!!!!!

James, love the Vespa and how fun to zip around on it!
I agree with Penny regarding remodel quality vs tacky building!

    Hello Dean,

How fortunate is your friend to visit Bermuda 4 x a year- it is such a lovely place and terribly handy to the states if one is on the East Coast.

I felt like I was on the set of “Roman Holiday” zipping around “Welly World”.

  6. James Andrew says:

    My Darling La Comtesse Lola,

So beyond fabulous to hear from you and thrilled that you are getting a glimpse of our adventures.

We miss you terribly – a martini reunion is in order – come to NYC!

    Much Love

    My Dear Penelope Bianchi,

All this waste and development without any conscious or foresight is not only hideous but potentially devastating to the environment.

Sometimes it is a good thing when people have tighter budgets we are then forced to be more creative and come up with better solutions and – Less Waste!

Much Love and All My Best!
