Surrounded by Books

I’ve amassed a rather fabulous collection of books, and yes, I’m literally surrounded by them in every room of my apartment! In fact, a move may be needed in order to accommodate a proper library (one of my great dreams and desires). My books continue to provide me with endless stimulation, and are an integral part of my daily life—art, architecture, design, photography, travel, cuisine, gardening, history, etc.—it’s all here, ready to whisk me off to the world of my choosing. Hugely useful, they’ve become a truly indispensable tool for helping me to show clients a design direction they might not have considered, and WIJW utilizes our Slim Aarons section, for instance, to guide us in making our own iconic images!

Captured in my library/dining room with my new Tom Ford reading glasses (increased IQ guaranteed)—I’m thinking fashionable college professor or louche librarian in my Tom Ford camel hair and silk jacket with suede elbow patches worn with a pale yellow cashmere turtleneck sweater, J Brand “Kane” jeans, Gucci saddle leather tasseled loafers, vintage brown and camel silk pocket square, Rolex watch and my fragrance is Tom Ford Lavender Palm.

Great minds think alike I suppose…. we’re on the same subject!

  2. I adore Albert Pinto’s “Table Settings.” It feels new every time I open it. Wonderful photo, James!

  3. Connie Lee says:

I will take your advise and add Cecil Beaton the New York Years to my collection. Every time I think I am running out of space for books I find a new system and spot. The difficulty is keeping them organized so that I can find what I need.

  4. Richard M says:

    What a gorgeous look.

  5. Robert O'Byrne says:

I want a larger photograph so as to better read the spines of your books (or maybe I just need better spectacles…)

  6. James Andrew says:

    Hello C J Dellatore,

I love when this collective consciousness thing happens!

Indeed there is nothing like actually having a hard cover book to explore.

  7. James Andrew says:
