James Andrew at the Conservatory Garden.
I’ve always wanted a private garden, and to create my dream garden I’d most certainly collaborate with a brilliant landscape architect like my dear friend Mario Neivera. Until such time as I do secure a little slice of Eden, signing my clients up with Neivera brings me the satisfaction of knowing that all things green will be handled properly.
To further assuage my longings, I do relish my strolls through many of the fine public gardens here in town, and if you love the plein air experience like I do, I can unreservedly recommend the Conservatory Garden which I’ve affectionately claimed as my “Secret Garden” – but of course I’m happy to share with our WIJW fans! Nicely off the beaten track at 5th Ave and 105th Street, this somewhat hidden treasure consists of a Central Garden based on Italian style gardens; a North garden created in a classical French style; and a more informal South garden featuring a naturalistic English style design. A walk through this lovely array of gardens is a sure cure for any and all of your city woes.

Coster Scott, c-print diptych, L.XV - M.D.B., approx. 92cm x 228cm
And it’s always nice to bring a little of the outdoors in as well – a nice selection of choice stems will do the trick – and/or for something guaranteed to be in bloom year round, a gorgeous pair of Coster Scott large scale floral photographs are a must – these modern-baroque c-prints are in ultra limited editions, making them quite coveted by collectors in the know – each work is approx. 3ft x 3ft in size – We particularly love the coupling of a color with a toned black and white work, and a framed pair will cover a respectable 8 to 9ft length of wall space! (sorry, it’s the decorator in me that has me quite constantly thinking in terms of scale). While Scott is a virtual recluse, we’ll do our best to track him down upon your request.
Enjoying an early Spring visit to my “Secret Garden,” I’m wearing an aubergine velvet jacket, feather weight short sleeve cashmere rugby style shirt in pink and burgundy stripes with white cotton collar and placket, mini hounds tooth wool pant , silver chain link belt and sunglasses all by Gucci, Tom Ford pocket square abstract floral printed silk in pinks and aubergine, Dior silver leather sneakers and my fragrance is Creed Royal Water.
Great post James !
I would like to meet Mario sometime… I mentioned him in my novel about Naples “Diamonds In The Sun” and have always admired his work.

FABTASTIC!
You look uberchic! I would love to know more about this landscape architect, maybe I will need him…
you look stunning!
The Conservatory Gardens are great! And I love the way your pocket square matches the buds on the trees.
The flowers look marvelous, albeit digital. The fashion sense is chic, unique and beyond the convention. Which is always good.
Looking chic even in a more casual outfit!
