WHAT IS JAMES WEARING? Rotating Header Image

A few years ago the New York Times did a piece on the Long Island’s North Fork, nicknaming it the “un-Hampton” — needless to say when dear friends from Palm Beach told me they were renting a house there and expected me to be a regular guest, we were on our way on the first Jitney! Everything about North Fork is what the Hamptons were like twenty-five years ago — seaside /country living — so charming and unpretentious, North Fork was exactly what we needed for a genuine weekend escape from the city.

We had a couple of long and luxurious days lounging on one of the little beaches, strolling through the towns, eating lovely luncheons and divine dinners (all served al fresco, of course). The whole experience was just heavenly!

I’m photographed by Scott McBee (top) in front of the Webb House – a marvelous mansion that apparently provided legendary architect David Adler with inspiration for the doors he designed for the William McCormick Blairs Lake Bluff home.

I’m sporting a Tom Ford era Gucci white linen jacket, a Moth of Sydney – Paddington Moth shirt in a tangerine Italian cotton jersey with navy trim, Ralph Lauren floral shorts and orange suede espadrilles, Battisitoni navy and white dot print silk pocket square, Kiel James Patrick woven white cotton belt, vintage Rolex, my fragrance Creed Acqua Originale Cedre Blanc and Tom Ford Bronzing Gel providing a sun kissed glow.

  3. Exactly! We are so old; we actually visited the “Hamptons” 35 years ago! (and a few times since) but you “hit the nail on the head!”!! It was understated….laid back…..not what we read about now. Our friends are still “understated” and live under the radar in East Hampton. No one knows who they are. They like it that way. My favorite house in all of the Hamptons. We won’t see it in any magazine.

I am so grateful to have been there then; I know my friends are keeping it the same way ; and how cool that your friends found a place….that is exactly what it all used to be! Yikes!

And, as always, James…..you look divine! Love to Scott McBee!

You travel in the best circles and go to the best places!
We had seven ducklings hatch in March….flew after 58 days….and then 9 ducklings!! They still can’t fly!!!

    We are so so lucky!!

We are in heaven here! come visit again! (or maybe you have seen everything! SOB!!! Maybe you would like to see it again??!!??)

I can’t wait to go back!

  5. James Andrew says:

    Dear Karena,

It was the most blissful weekend!

So very quaint and charming- I can’t wait to go back!

    My Darling Penelope Bianchi,

Those are the best kinds of people – not needing to show off ,living elegantly and quietly.

The Hamptons in many ways are a suburban New York City, with endless traffic and crowds etc- not a real retreat from city life.

Now there is indeed quite a bit of beauty in the Hamptons, glorious hedges and spectacular beaches etc.

The North Fork for me is much more of a retreat- a total shift in energy.

So happy the ducklings are thriving- can’t wait to see them all- we would love to get back to Montecito for a little visit.

    Much Love and All Best
