As you might imagine, I was rather excited by our Lyford Cay Design Weekend…now I’ll have to land a few fabulous projects there to share during next year’s event!
I’ve already been developing a sophisticated tropical design idiom that is fresh yet draws upon the old world elegance one finds in the Bahamas. This gorgeous walled property (above) would be an excellent location for my new design! Perfect for a client looking to enjoy the Lyford Cay lifestyle. To add to the rich architectural heritage in Lyford, I would suggest either a version of Maurice Fatio’s, “Villa Today” (a tropical Art Deco house with a Mediterranean flavor) or perhaps something reminiscent of Olvier Messel’s legendary neo-Palladian style “Leamington Pavilion” in Barbados. The scale of said homes would work with a lot of this size, affording gracious indoor and outdoor living spaces, and an abundance of covered loggias and terraces would be superb for enjoying the warm Bahamian weather.
I’m pictured (top) surveying the situation in a Tom Ford mango silk basket weave “Spencer” jacket, lavender woven silk mini herringbone pant, purple cotton gingham shirt, lavender cotton glen plaid pocket square and sand colored suede loafers, Ralph Lauren purple alligator belt with sterling buckle, vintage Rolex watch and my fragrance is Creed Windsor.
