Lalanne on Park Avenue

James Andrew and Lalanne sheep on Park Avenue.

It’s true, my interests do “verge on the fantastical” as the Telegraph UK so aptly put it this past week. This being said, it should come as no surprise to you that I adore the work of the husband and wife team Claude and Francois-Xavier Lalanne. Without a hint of pretense and definitely with a nod to the surrealist tradition, these works are mundane made sublime – It’s no wonder the Lalannes’ work has been collected by all of the major taste makers and fashion Illuminati like Yves Saint Laurent, Hubert de Givenchy, Karl Lagerfeld and Tom Ford.

I’m thrilled that the Lalannes’ work has been given a stretch of Park Avenue for all to enjoy until November 20th, and I couldn’t resist mugging for a shot (above) amongst the flock of Lalanne sheep titled, Mouton Transhumant. I’m playing the gentleman farmer (with a hint of Marie-Antoinette’s Hameau in mind), and wearing a pieced cognac suede jacket, a wonder floral western shirt in shades of pink, oatmeal corduroy pants, python belt, sadle leather tassled loafers, and a brown suede and leather satchel all by Gucci, sunglasses are KVA for Oliver Peoples.
