WHAT IS JAMES WEARING? Rotating Header Image

James Andrew

As many of you may know, I’m no flâneur (though I don’t mind a spot of constitutional lounging about once in a while!). The fact is, I make my living as an interior designer.

The interior design business certainly has changed quite a bit since I began decades ago — one needs to adjust and re-group and update constantly — and that includes giving my neglected website, jamesandrewinteriordesign, a bit of a face lift (it’s under construction as I write this. It’ll have a bold new format and will include many new images of my work, so do stay tuned!). Of course I’ll continue to utilize WIJW, Instagram, and Facebook to show you and my prospective clients all the marvelous design possibilities I’m exploring.

Lately, I find that I’m doing a lot of interior consulting. There are quite a few people out there who want to use an interior designer but perhaps either can’t afford a full time one, or they would rather do things on their own but still want the benefit of some professional input. When I consult, a few hours are usually enough to create a basic working floor plan and to establish what the important pieces should be – this includes color schemes and more. It’s a great way to get one’s interior decoration off to a spectacular start. Of course I’m there for follow up consultations if a client needs a bit more input. In any case, a simple consultation is a nice way to do things without a major commitment. If you think YOU might be interested, feel free to Email Me and I can give you details.

Our picture tonight looks to me a bit like a Farrow & Ball paint color chart — with shades of London Stone, Smoked Trout, Dead Salmon and Calamine! I’m sporting a Tom Ford ivory linen sateen jacket (part of a suit) with “Dead Salmon” silk pants, brown suede tasseled loafers, silk pocket square in shades of stone and brown, and a brown leather belt with rose gold buckle, Gucci pale pink silk butterfly print shirt, vintage Rolex, Tom Ford Bronzing Gel provides a bit of sun kissed glow, and my fragrance is Eau d’Italie’s-ravishing Paestum Rose.

Who wouldn’t want a consultation with the brilliant James Andrews? What a fantastic idea. Anyone would be very lucky indeed to get you to consult on their interior dilemmas and help them from mistakes (or correct the ones already made.)

  2. Dean says:

I think you’re on the right track! I also need to get a new site up, and have thought of offering services online or via my blog site.

As you said, our business has changed so much since the advent of the all encompassing modern technology- another reason I believe so many designers have done coffee table books and are branding themselves.

Have you ever considered having a small shop a la Todd Romano? It could be quite fabulous- and with friends behind you such as Mr. Slatkin you couldn’t go wrong! (although I seriously doubt you need more business!!!) As always, loving WIJW…

  3. James Andrew says:

    My Dear Howard Slatkin,

    You are so delicious!

Thank You for all your tremendous support and enthusiasm!

You continually inspire me on so many different levels.

I am quite blessed and honored to have you as a friend!

    Much Love

  4. James Andrew says:

    Dear Dean,

We have to be aware of what is going on in the world and at times perhaps change the way we do business in an effort to maintain and gain new business.

I quite often find that when people get a taste of what working with a designer can bring to one’s project- they rather quickly sign you up!

    All Best,

  5. CD says:

    Dear James,

You are always so well dressed, cutting edge and yet timeless!

    Thanks for the photo!

  6. Dean says:

So true! OK, how about an office on Madison Avenue, like the one Alexa Hampton has?

  7. James Andrew says:

    My Dear CD,

Thank You- what a wonderful compliment!!!

I approach the interiors that I create in the same way!

    Much Love
