WHAT IS JAMES WEARING? Rotating Header Image

In With The Old by Jennifer Boles

With the eye of a decorative historian, Jennifer Boles researches vintage magazines and books, posting her spectacular finds on her site, The Peak of Chic. It’s a delightful read and a wonderful design resource – in fact it’s one of the first blogs that caught my eye years ago.

With so much valuable information, it was only natural for Boles to capture the best of it in book form. In with the Old: Classic Decor from A to Zcelebrates the chicest of chic, with 100 of the most stylish decorating details favored by the greatest taste-makers of the 20th century, and it includes pithy tips on how to adapt these ideas to the world of today. Needless to say, it’s a must have for any design enthusiast.

I had the pleasure to spend some time with my friend Boles in Lyford Cay recently (pictured above). It isn’t surprising that many of the design elements she presents in her gorgeous new book can be seen at that great bastion of taste, Lyford; a testament to Boles’ keen eye. From bamboo, banquettes, and canopies, to exotic prints and murals…it’s all there!

  5. Oh well! I follow Mr. Slatkin (I was a frequent patron of his divine shop on the East Side in that divine “cottage” (the only one I have ever seen on the Upper East side) bought lots of candles and divine things……then it was my friend “Mish”s jewelry salon……I loved to visit! What a charming spot!! (it must be landmarked!!)

We all have similar “taste”!! James Andrew, Jennifer Boles; Howard Slatkin (I have to read your book in small doses; lest I “expire” seeing so much taste and beauty…….I am getting older……YIKES!!! YIPPEE!!!

  6. Wait a second…….did I miss something when you were here? Rolex Daytona??

Thirty five years ago or so…..I bought Adam a watch! Did you see it when you were here? He wears it every day!

It is a Rolex Daytona! I bought it for 300.00 for his birthday. Stainless steel.

5 years ago…..no, maybe 10 we were on Nantucket (actually 22..how scary is that??) and in a jewelry store……A guy said to Adam…..”are you sentimentally attached to your watch?) Astonishing!

    Adam said, “actually, yes”

And the guy made an enormous offer! Why is that? What is that about?

Much love, you are, as always looking completely divine! And one of my favorite places……Lyford!!

ps you saw and heard Hutton!!! He is my favorite speaker! He and Eric Haskell! They are the BEST!

How was Elsie’s “chicken a la king”???
