FINALLY FALL

James Andrew - Central Park

James Andrew – Central Park

Summer temperatures have been lingering here in NYC and this has been impeding my move to autumnal attire…but it does look like we’re finally heading into fall proper, and I’ve been prepping my wools, tartans, tweeds and cashmeres. I know it’s a bit cliché, but I do love when the leaves start turning in Central Park. The sense of change brings with it some sadness, but also a bit of brisk excitement—a hustle and bustle about the city…windows invite with rich and glowy allure, and it’s a wonderful time to get together with friends for a quick bracer. Autumn becomes a great time to dream, and perhaps perfect some of those plans and dreams, so that come the lighter seasons, we’re up and running—ready to manifest our wildest fantasies.

I’m taking time to enjoy the glorious changes here, aligning my vibrations with all that I want to manifest. Central park becomes the most sublime spot to recharge in its glorious silence and one cannot help but marvel at the colors of life.

I’m sporting a Gucci “Madonna” bomber jacket in bottle green leather, Paul Smith Black Watch wool pants, Tom Ford midnight blue plaid shirt, Borrelli forest green cashmere tie, Ralph Lauren black alligator belt with sterling buckle, Tom Ford era Gucci black leather tasseled loafers, vintage Rolex, and my fragrance is Creed Bois du Portugal.

    Dear James,

In your photograph, the reflection of the bridge in the water, along with the rich shades of green, immediately took me to Musée d’Orsay, where Cézanne’s Pont de Maincy (Maincy Bridge, circa 1879) blurs the boundaries between form and reflection, recalling Caravaggio’s Narcissus (circa 1958) at the Palazzo Barberini in Rome.

James + Finally Fall = Cézanne + Caravaggio

Finally Fall + James = Pont de Maincy + Narcissus

I really love shades of green and blue put together, especially deep ones–but even pastel ones.

    Happy Central Park Month!

By the way, by no means do I think it’s a cliché to love autumn leaves. To the contrary, I adore the phenomenology of the change of seasons.

As Cézanne wrote, “The Louvre is the book in which we learn to read. We should not, however, content ourselves with retaining the beautiful forumals of our illustrious predecessors. …Time and reflection modify vision little by little, and finally comprehension comes to us.”

–Paul Cézanne, in a letter to Émile Bernard, Aix-en-Provence, May 12, 1904

I hope I did not come across as Der Bücherwurm (The Bookworm), that 1850 painting by the German painter Carl Spitzweg!

  2. YOWZERS!!

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL photograph! Of a beautiful man!
the reflection in the water of that beautiful bridge! What an enormous gift Central Park is to New Yorkers! It is completely mind-boggling that is entirely…….(entirely!!) man-made! It is a miracle of nature…..and shows how nature adapts. It is one of my favorite places on earth!

and “Pale Male” is my favorite wild animal!!

    Very Cezanne indeed!!!

Wanting to highlight “Fall” the park is one of our few options whilst in town to enjoy the sensational changes in season.

    My Darling Penelope Bianchi,

    Isn’t it just sublime!

For those of us who don’t have our own little slice of heaven yet- we are indeed gifted a bit of glorious nature to enjoy.

Albeit – as you say “man made” it is just beyond spectacular.

    Love,Light and Blessings

James, I am really looking forward to keeping an eye on you this autumn. Autumn is a season that allows for more style and fashionable self-expression. You look incredible in your Gucci bottle green, bomber jacket. The Tom Ford midnight blue, plaid shirt and Borrelli forest green, cashmere tie enhance the jacket so well. And those Paul Smith Blackwatch, wool pants!! They are so superb with the whole ensemble! James, you do autumn perfectly and I am looking forward to keeping track of WIJW during my most favorite of seasons.

  6. James Andrew says:

    My Dear George,

I do enjoy Autumn as I enjoy all the seasons- certainly one can add a few more layers to enhance ones “Sartorial Splendour”.

Stay tuned- I hope you will enjoy some of my upcoming ensembles.

    Cheers and Many Thanks

James, my friend, hope all is well!! As always, you look like a million dollars! I agree with George, Autumn is a time to layer up and show some style and you, my friend, have perfected it. I’m a GUCCI fanatic so you may have to give up that jacket – ha ha!

    Take care and keep inspiring!

  8. James Andrew says:

    Dear Ramsay,

You are always so delicious- Thank You!

I believe if we want to be a millionaire – we need to dress and feel like one – even if our reality is quite different. Eventually our alignment will draw to us all that we need to manifest our dreams and in the meantime we are feeling pretty damn fabulous!

    Cheers

  9. I love all of your posts with texts -photos -and what you are sporting in each -but this photograph is so memorable. i thought about it all last week. The colors and light is gentle and poetic -a sublime setting….and I thought of how much I loved this ensemble -the shirt in plaid is dynamic with the black watch, and acts as a neutral, too…inspired. Love the teal bomber -classic and now -perfect for being out and about in autumn in New York.
    xx

    My Dear Philip,

Funnily enough it is sometimes the most unplanned and organic things that turn out the best.

I was strolling through Central Park with Mr McB knowing that a gorgeous Fall back drop would present itself and voila!

    Cheers
