Eau d’Italie, Jardin du Poete

Jardin du Poete is the latest in a series of delicious fragrances from our super chic friends, the Sersales at Le Sirenuse. It’s a complex citrus fragrance for both men and women, with bitter orange, grapefruit, and basil top notes; angelica, helicrysum, pink pepper middle notes, and a rich base of cypress, vetiver, and musk.

From Eau d’Italie:

The inspiration for this fragrance is a tale from a bygone era, when nations where ruled by poets, and poets were sacred to Apollo. In those days Sicily was a Greek colony, Syracuse was a fragrant court, and its gardens vibrated with the scent of citrus orchards and rows of aromatic plants. Thus “Jardin du Poete”, the poet’s garden, a luminous fragrance to evoke Sicily and all things Sicilian.

Needless to say this most recent fragrance, like all of the Eau d’Italie fragrances, captures the essence of Italy—its past, and its creative present—to enjoy wherever one may be. Indeed, one touch of Jardin du Poete finds me on the verge of booking a return trip to Southern Italy at this very moment!

  9. Dear James,

Thank you so much for this recommendation. The top and base note very much reminded me of Ferre FOR MEN by Gianfranco Ferre (not 2006 new version); the one I meant is a vintage from 1986, comes in a vintage bottle that reminds you of an old fashioned black chemist “cough medicine” bottle. The top notes start with elegant and high class note of Sicilian lemon, softened with relaxing notes of exotic trees of Provance and finally ends with sensual amber and sharp vetiver.

Above all, it’s very Italian and not many people seem to remember this perfume from the 80s. It’s not too strong. Tht’s why I’m able to wear it in the office.

Thank you once again. Hope you are keeping well.

    Yours sincerely,

    G. (via A Super Dilletante)
