Cupcake Stimulus Package

I received such an overwhelming response to my “Buy Something Today” post that I thought it would be a good idea to do a follow up post. So many people reached out to thank me for the refreshing alternative to the media’s doom and gloom.

One young lady wrote to tell me how moved she was by my post. Despite not having much money to spend, she went right to her local bakery and bought a cupcake. Can you imagine if everyone went out and bought a cupcake? – 100’s of millions of dollars would flood into the economy- now THAT is a stimulus package!

I love the story. Pretty much everyone here can afford a cupcake. My point is, whether one is buying haute couture or a cupcake it is all about spending something within our means – keeping people in their jobs, shops open, etc. Collectively we can definitely make a difference. I would really like to dispel the notion once and for all that spending, shopping, decorating etc. is somehow insensitive, inappropriate or vulgar!

Let’s get happy now! Let’s enjoy ourselves, splurge a little, have some fun – enough of all this dreariness – it is sooo boring. The better it gets the better it gets!

Here I am at the fabulous Billy’s Bakery paying homage to the fantastic cupcake story, and wearing an impossibly cheerful, happy colors, to strike an over the top upbeat note – pale mint green velvet jacket by Gucci, yellow cotton shirt with contrast white collar and cuffs by Turnbull and Asser, lavender silk tie by Charvet, vintage moonstone cuff links at Ralph Lauren, pocket square in lavender Glenn plaid by Tom Ford, sand corduroy pants and python loafers both by Gucci.

  7. I just had this conversation with someone at lunch. The talking heads are going to talk us right into a depression. These same people that kept telling us the market was going through the roof 7 months ago are the same ones telling us now that they knew this was coming. They keep telling everyone not to spend money. – Are they stupid or does it just create better news.

I think everyone should go spend $50 this weekend on anything they want to. We have 9% unemployment but that means that 91% of the people are working and should be out pumping money into this economy as long as they don’t go into greater debt. I agree with you, if everyone went and bought one cupcake look what would happen.

The media focus’ on a bank that is backing a golf tournament after taking 20 billion dollars from the government. If it cost the bank a million dollars that is one million put into the economy. Who knows what happened to the 20 Billion, but the million makes a difference. The media tells us how terrible it is that the bank is spending money this way – so they don’t throw the parties, and they don’t buy the hotel rooms, and they don’t buy airplane tickets, and they just put 20 people out of work. What do the talking heads think all of that money was for.

Just some thoughts. Go spend some money.
