Conservatory Water @ Central Park

One of the most fantastic places in New York City has got to be Central Park – it’s our oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of an oft times exhausting brick and mortar world. When I’m looking to energize, a walk through the park is a sure bet. As you know I’m prone to dream – on my walks I love to imagine this is a vast country estate with acres and acres to enjoy.

One of my favorite spots along the way is “Conservatory Water” – a fabulous ornamental pond based on the model boat ponds of Paris. Originally the name was given for the tropical plant conservatory slated to be built on this spot. Sadly due to lack of funds the plan was nixed and in lieu of a possible floral parterre this fantastic monumental body of water was placed in its stead – a perfect place for ducks and humans alike to enjoy aquatic pleasures.

Taking a leisurely stroll around this glorious pool before meeting some friends for drinks, I’m dressed for the season – a Mackintosh down vest in brown cotton corduroy with an orange lining, Tom Ford end on end brown cotton shirt with French cuffs and contrast white collar, vintage moonstone cufflinks from Ralph Lauren, purple silk paisley skinny scarf by Gucci, brown tweed motorcycle pants and python belt also by Gucci, orange suede tasseled loafers by Etro and KVA sunglasses by Oliver Peoples.

I like to think when I´m in my garden that I´m in the Central Park, enjoying the environment. When I travel the first thing I ask is where is the main park, I like to spend time walking under the shadows of big trees and hearing the birds when they sing.

Beautiful post James, your outfit is awesome!

I love parks too, but sometimes it´s a little bit dangerous to take a walk here in Brazil, I wish I could be in NY and enjoy a peaceful time there.

  7. Freiin von Spiering says:

As people say parks are the lungs of the cities; I lived in San Francisco for a time and always loved to spend time in the Golden Gate Park, with the squirrels and birds. I have been in the Central Park too, it was an awesome experience.

Thank you for making my days bright with your beautiful posts James

The parks are small where I live but we have big extensions of forests where people can walk. I remember when I was at the Central Park, had a nice time there watching all the people that walked around.

    Best Regards from Austria

This scarf reminds me of one I had 30 years ago, it was made out of silk too but one day it disappeared and I founded after a year in a nest at the rooftop, maybe one of my cats or racoons took it away from me…….you look uber fantastic James!
