I have always been drawn to fantasy furniture, especially grotto style pieces. I love the sense of mystery and whimsy they add to a room. In the 18th century, having a garden grotto was essential for A-list entertainment. Designed to intrigue, their artfully stylized “natural” designs offered a tantalizing contrast within the highly formal gardens of the time. Often replete with water follies and ornamental sea creatures, the grotto was the place to amuse and to find amusement!

Visiting the Janus et Cie showroom I fell in love with this fantastic “abalone” console table and mirror. Lavishly designed using a myriad of shell and coral elements, these pieces would be perfect for your lovely seaside playhouse!

I am wearing a red leather biker jacket by Gucci, Tom Ford shirt in black and white striped cotton, Seaman Schepps black pearl cuff links, black wool flannel pants and silver chain link belt both by Gucci. Silver leather sneakers and glasses both by Dior.
