The legendary landscape architect Russel Page saw the garden as an extension of the home into the outdoors. Understanding the complex relationship between interior and exterior space is of paramount importance in any successful design, and with this in mind, whether I’m helping a client to decorate and furnish a small terrace or an extensive garden, I treat outside spaces with as much consideration as I do their interior counterparts.

The Elkins steel chair.

This super chic Frances Elkins style steel chair I recently discovered at the Profiles showroom is just the sort of element one might use to create the indoor/outdoor continuity Russel Page espoused. What’s more, you can have the chair finished in any Benjamin Moore color you might fancy to add the most wonderfully whimsical statement to any fine garden sitting or dining area. I myself can’t wait to use these chairs in the decoration of my next “exterior room!”

I’m wearing a red leather biker jacket, floral print western shirt and python belt all by Gucci, jeans by G- Star, brown suede and leather tasseled loafers and sunglasses both by Tom Ford, brown suede and leather satchel by Gucci, and my fragrance is Creed Bois de Cedrat.

As much as I adore New York City I welcome the opportunity for a quick getaway – An invitation to spend the weekend at a friend’s Cape Cod beach retreat provided the perfect escape.

We had a glorious time soaking up the sun, kayaking (I created quite a scandal kayaking in my white Dior speedo and over-sized Gucci aviator sunglasses) – We ate at local seaside restaurants and enjoyed fabulous “fruits de mer.” – The vibe in Cape Cod is super casual, no need to wear a jacket to dinner here, a jacket would have actually felt a bit out of place. Nonetheless, I still felt the need to come up with looks that were chic yet appropriately casual for the setting. I’ve been admiring several of Michael Bastian’s pieces for summer and this very light weight cotton seersucker hoodie in ‘Nantucket” red and white stripes added that little extra spark and attitude to a rather simple outfit, paired with a G-Star buttoned undershirt and white skinny jeans by Diesel – I finished the look with Gucci sunglasses. I’m going barefoot, dreaming, and keeping nicely tanned : )

While recently perusing the Tom Dixon boutique at ABC Home I came across the “Link” easy chair – an ultra cool sculptural piece produced in white powder coated steel that reinterprets the classic wing chair. Its exaggerated shape not only provides visual interest but also make the chair quite comfortable! I could see using this chair a la David Hicks in a dramatic dark room mixed with antiques and other contemporary pieces.
