WHAT IS JAMES WEARING? Rotating Header Image

Casa Kimball …good is in the details

At Casa Kimball there is no such thing as a “bad” bedroom – All eight suites (easily accommodating 16+ total) have spectacular views just like the one behind me of the ocean and lush tropical gardens. Kimball and his architect Jasmit Rangr created these luxurious suites so that guests can retreat from the sometimes extreme Dominican weather yet still enjoy the outdoors through grand floor to ceiling windows or from individual cantilevered semi protected terrace/balconies.

I’m pictured on the terrace of the master bedroom suite. The ingenious architectural multi-purpose bench/railing that I’m sitting on is designed into the villa throughout as a way to reduce the clutter that would otherwise be created by additional seating, and serves to brilliantly enhance the sleek rectilinear effect of the whole house.

The suite interiors are all designed with an open plan between bedroom and bathroom, which Rangr felt would be a bit “sexier,” and fitting for the vacation home that Casa Kimball was intended to be! The massive bathrooms/dressing rooms have miles of closet space – so one should feel free to pack all one’s most fabulous couture!- Of course that is exactly what I did, and I still had plenty of space to lay everything out.

A particularly nice feature are the showers which have glass doors that can be opened while still providing screened privacy. It’s hard to explain how liberating the sensation of a plein air shower is, but suffice it to say, it makes an ordinary thing quite extraordinary.

Can you tell that I’m in love?

Blissed out on my tropical perch, I’m wearing a Gucci black and white cotton gingham shirt with contrast black trim, white cotton slim shorts are Mario Matteo at Behaviour NYC, Gucci silver chain link belt, cobalt suede with black gross grain ribbon trim demi boots by Pierre Hardy and my outrageous KVA sunglasses by Oliver Peoples.
