The inspirational words of Marianne Williamson have been incredibly useful to me in helping me to embrace and celebrate myself—encouraging me to step forward into the light so to speak. I thought to share with you one of my favorite passages here, in the hopes that you might be touched by her powerful words as well.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that frightens us. We ask ourselves ‘who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

You are a true testament to this statement. True indeed. I love this paragraph that you posted, however I have always attributed it to Nelson Mandela. Regardless, it rings clear and with great light. Great post. ~be well.

this is so classic and sexy. Simple b&w’s are the best. No cheap thrills, just true raw beauty

  4. WIJW says:

Thanks all! Also, interestingly Carl, as you have pointed out, our Williamson quote has become associated with Mandela’s inaugural address. However, it is indeed original to Williamson—see “A Return to Love”—and not from Mandela’s speech as is often popularly believed! ( :

Great words to remember and to live by!
