An Adirondack Adventure

James Andrew - Manhattan meets the Adirondacks

Looking for a quick and thoroughly gorgeous commune with nature? One needn’t search far here—with a bit of imagination (and you know we have no shortage of that), our very own New York City Central Park offers a nearly authentic Adirondack experience! In fact, Olmsted and Vaux designed “North Woods” with just this in mind…lively cascades, limpid pools, quiet wooded paths, and rustic mountain bridges all conspire to create the most dreamy, (and elegant) wilderness experience. For our Manhattan-meets-Adirondacks adventure, I was thinking Vanderbilt’s legendary Camp Sagamore, and as you might expect, I dressed the part! I’m sporting a Tom Ford era Gucci hunting jacket in olive with brown suede accents, Tom Ford brown and white micro check shirt with French cuffs, vintage Scottish agate cuff links, Ralph Lauren wool challis tartan tie, chartreuse python belt with silver double horse head buckle, Uniqlo slim cargo pants in khaki brushed cotton poplin, the chicest of ALL wellies, Le Chameau, and my fragrance is Creed Epicea.

  7. You look damned good.

I have those boots -I like manly pursuits. ;)

There is a lot to be said for something that is truly well made, these handmade French boots conceived for utility and highly considered -all for ease when facing the elements -that is true luxury for me.

    Damn.

  8. This is a total hoot! I was sure that you were going to be at The Point, luxuriating in all its splendor. That you were in Central Park made me laugh out loud with pleasure. Great post!

  9. James Andrew says:

    My Dear Philip,

I guess we share this whole gentleman farmer/adventurer fantasy!

Your description of Le Chameau boots is just Divine!

I will use it for my next post for them.

  11. The “french form of “werques” will be in my vocabulary permanently as long as I live!

I am with Reggie…….I was sure it was at “The Pointr”

Next time I am in NYC; I will want to have a “reunion”; however, where the heck is that in Central Park?

The first thing I ever did on the internet was New York Social Diary; and about an hour later…..’Pale Male’!

They are all going strong! Especially the astonishing hawk! I think he is 25?
You have no idea how I have followed and supported that hawk and the photographer who has been following him his entire life!!

    Bravo to YOU!
Now I am going to Facebook (I am bad at it!) to vote for you in Vanity Fair’s best dressed!

I mean, really, is there a rival?!?

I think not! going to vote!

  12. James Andrew says:

    Darling Penelope,

I can’t wait for our reunion!

We may be taking a trip from SF to LA – stopping along the way.

Would be so sublime to visit you!

    Cheers

    JA
