“I absolutely love my gardens,” Robert Couturier joyously proclaims in his glorious book Robert Couturier: Designing Paradises, and we can emphatically say, now having spent some delicious time in his gardens, that we love LOVE them too! In fact our many strolls through Couturier and Jeffrey Morgan’s Kent, Connecticut grounds — adorable shih tzus Dora, Clara, Hercules, and Henriette leading the way — remain the highlight of this season’s WIJW weekend getaways.

Sunday is a restorative day there —- we eased into the morning with the New York Times and breakfast in their luxurious living room, and later had a refreshing luncheon amongst smart friends. This was all followed by coffee on one of the terraces, surrounded of course by the opulent gardens. It’s just our sort of thing, and if this sounds like your kind of weekend too, then do pick up Robert Couturier: Designing Paradises which gives one an in depth look at their Connecticut home as well as their handsome guest residence (Dover House, which was Scott Mcbee’s and my weekend base of operations) and many other properties: the gardens, rooms, table settings, and more, all captured in rich photographs to inspire and enjoy.

Taking some time to document a bit of our weekend, Scott McBee captured me (top) in a wonderful hornbeam allée. I’m dressed in a Tom Ford amethyst and gray windowpane wool tweed jacket, gray, black and white mini check cotton shirt with French cuffs, cashmere wool tie in a black, white, and purple plaid, gray suede gloves from Paul Stuart, vintage Rolex, black pearl cuff links, Ralph Lauren black and white polka dot silk scarf, Uniqlo slim jean and purple sox, Turnbull and Asser gray and black silk dot pocket square, gray down vest by Hawke & Co.,Tom Ford era Gucci black suede loafers and my fragrance is Creed Royal Oud.

Dear James, I do love your regular “gifts” to us by way of your website! Today’s is especially wonderful because about two weeks ago I ordered and received the book you mention and is now one of my favorites.
I’m (we…lots of us) are deeply envious of your actually “seeing” these absolutely gorgeous homes! Keep doing the wonderful work you do and sharing the beauty you discover. BTW, the togs you wear also deserve attention and cause envy!
