Recently I had the great fortune to attend opening night at the Met Opera with my beloved Scott McBee. The anual celebration is a sublimely elegant affair where most actually dress properly for the occasion!

As I have mentioned on a few occasions here on WIJW, I’m rather selective when it comes to the events I go to, and this is one of those not to be missed evenings that fits my criteria to a T, with a spectacular brand new production of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. As expected, set designer Rob Howell’s ravishing modern take on an 18th century manor house in Seville during the 1930s was thoroughly breathtaking.

Needless to say we had a fabulous time, and I think McBee was beyond dashing in his Tom Ford black tie ensemble and M de Phocas evening set.

Dressed to celebrate and honor the evening and this tremendous new production, I’m sporting a Tom Ford magenta silk faille evening jacket, white cotton voile tuxedo shirt, black wool barethea tuxedo pant, silk faille bow tie, patent leather opera pumps and black silk socks all by Tom Ford. I’ve finished the look with a diamond evening set by M de Phocas, and a touch of Creed Windsor fragrance.

  4. I forgot to say…..when I was in first grade….(9 million years ago)! “Magenta” was my favorite crayon. It is still my favorite color on earth! And there you are in the Tom Ford “magenta” jacket!

    ps I was called an “old biddy” in a comment on the blog I love (Cote de Texas) I almost cried! Lordy! Never mind……I adore that magenta jacket!!!

    We had the most magical evening at the MET – Mr McB is just so very dashing and debonair and this magenta evening jacket is just beyond words- I have never been one to blend in.

    Dear Penny…be strong, I know how cruel words make one feel…but remember your SAVING GRACE is knowing how clear your Soul shines, like a Crystal displaying all the colors…for that reason all the little birds, chickies and puppies that come across your path thrive and lead beautiful lives.
